Book Review: The First Fifteen Lives Of Harry August

Stop what you a doing! Immediately! Go and download the audiobook of Claire North’s The First Fifteen Lives Of Harry August. It will change the way you think. This wonderful novel gripped me from the very first sentence and the narrator, Peter Kenny, was a revelation.

Can you imagine what it would be like to have lived a full life, died, and then been reborn, memory in tact? Harry August is born at the same time and place every time he dies. The world is ending and he is the only one who can stop it.This story is fast-paced and exciting with everything from first loves to espionage. There is lots of action, clever-thinking and unusual situations. Who knew living the same life over and over again could be so interesting? You will fall in love with the amazing cast of characters and begin to feel sympathetic towards people you shouldn’t.

Peter Kenny, reader of the audiobook, did a splendid job. This novel contains many and diverse characters and he captured them all perfectly. He played the same person as both young and old, he gave them different accents, and yet you still knew exactly who they were. Phenomenal.

Overall, I gave this terrific novel 5/5 stars and I will definitely be picking up more of Claire North’s work in the future.
