April has been a ridiculous mix of warm weather and hailstones, dreadful. I managed to read nine books this month and enjoyed all of them. The photo below only shows eight because I’d forgotten that I read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince this month and not March.
All the books I read were phenomenal and I gave them all 5/5 stars. Scarlet and Cress are books 2 and 3 of The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer and I absolutely love these sci-fi / fairytale retellings, I’ve just started the last one. Equal Rites and Wyrd Sisters are the first books in Terry Pratchett’s Witches Collection, I can’t wait to carry on with the series. The rest of the books I read were re-reads. I love re-reading books, it makes me happy and nostalgic. I listened to the Harry Potter’s on audiobook (read by Stephen Fry) and when I started doing this in January I kicked off with Prisoner of Azkaban. I realise it would have made far more sense to start with Philosopher’s Stone. Ah well …
What was your favourite read of this month?
When I saw this tag, I just had to do it. The Time & Place Book Tag was created by Jen Campbell (you can watch the original video here) and this is how it goes: Pick ten books that remind you of a specific time and place and tell us about it. I think this is a fantastic tag because I associate so much with the books I read.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K.Rowling
This week’s topic for Top 5 Wednesday, a group hosted over on Goodreads, is Favourite Mothers / Maternal Figures. My mum is one of my favourite people, she is truly fantastic but some of these maternal figures are not. Today I am going to list the mothers I have most enjoyed reading about.
Today I am going to be doing the TBR book tag! Let’s get cracking!
How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I don’t keep track. I shelve my books alphabetically and do not keep unread books separate. I just know which ones I’ve not read. In the case of books I don’t own, I do have a wish list on bookdepository.com so I don’t forget which ones I want to buy. I should probably use the ‘Want To Read’ shelf on Goodreads but I always forget. Read more
I’ve just finished taking part in the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon and I had an absolute blast! I devoted a full day to just reading and it was sheer bliss, it was great to know that loads of other people were doing the same thing!
I prepared my TBR in advance:
It’s Wednesday! So today I’m bringing you another Top 5. This week’s topic from the Goodreads Group is ‘Books I’m Intimidated By’.
A Slow Regard Of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss
I started to read this book a while ago but just couldn’t get into it. I love Patrick Rothfuss’ other books and I’m worried that if I pick this book up again, I still won’t like it. I’m such a coward. Read more
I’ve decided it’s time for another Read-A-Thon experience and this time I have decided to go for a shorter one, Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon. It takes place on Saturday 23rd April and everyone around the world starts at exactly the same time, my start is 2pm. I will be trying to stay awake for the full 24 hours and read as much as I possibly can. We’ll see how that goes.
